Helene Younger Donates Quilt to be Raffled Off for LLS

“Today I donated a king size quilt towards John Pinkerton’s Leukemia and Lymphoma campaign in memory of his Mum, Sybil. Sybil and I go back a long time to the early 70s. We met while I was volunteering at Hadley Pre-School, Whittier, CA, in 1970. I stayed on as a part-time employee throughout high school and shortly thereafter. Sybil was amazing to work with, always positive and full of life, I fully enjoyed working with this lady and learned a lot about life from her, listening to her stories about growing up in England and about her children that meant so much to her. She taught me how to love all people, even those that were different. Sybil’s aide in her classroom was special needs and she was just amazing with her. Positivity and laughter are the traits I remember most in Sybil, she was an amazing person.

I started sewing in sixth grade and have continued ever since. I took my first quilting class back in 1979 and have made many quilts for many different family and friends. I have been a “professional” long arm quilter now for 6 years and have a small quilting shop in Torrance, CA. I am hoping that this quilt will help John reach his campaign goal and help in the cure to wipe out all cancers across the board.  All material for this quilt is high quality Moda brand, purchased from a local quilt fabric shop. The pattern I found in a quilting magazine awhile back. Raffle tickets will be available from John at $1 per chance or $5 for six chances. Please help support this worthy cause….

Kind Regards,

Helene Younger”
